Archbishop Emeritus Teodulfo S. Domingo, who served as the Archbishop of Tuguegarao for close to 30 years, passed away in the early morning of June 3. He was 91.
Internment was set on June 11, after the Funeral Mass at the St. Peter's Cathedral in Tuguegarao.
Archbishop Domingo was born on September 5, 1910 in San
Jose, Baggao, Cagayan. He entered the San Jacinto Seminary in Tuguegarao after finishing grade school at the Iguig Elementary School in 1928. He completed the Latin course in 1932 and
entered the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Vigan, where he finished his Philosophy course in 1934, and Theology in 1938.
He was ordained to the priesthood on April 3, 1938 at the Tuguegarao Cathedral by the
late Bishop Constant Jurgens.
He served as assistant parish priest in Tuguegarao, Buguey and Aparri in Cagayan and was assigned as acting pastor for short periods in Angadanan and Gamu in Isabela and
in Faire, Enrile and Lallo in Cagayan.
He served as parish priest of Piat, Cagayan and chaplain of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Piat for seven years from 1942, until his appointment as vicar forane of the Itawes
District in 1950.
In December 1954, he was transferred to Aparri, Cagayan as parish priest and vicar forane, during which time he also served at various times in the Diocesan Curia of
Tuguegarao as Consultor and Fiscal.
He was ordained to the Episcopacy and appointed Bishop of Tuguegarao on July 2, 1957. When the Diocese of Tuguegarao was elevated to an Archdiocese, he was
appointed the first Metropolitan Archbishop of Tuguegarao and installed on April 10, 1975. He retired as Archbishop of Tuguegarao on April 10, 1986.
